VIETNAM VIETNAM!!!

Hello people, I finally had the time to edit, upload and blog about my trip.. It took me don't know how many freaking hours to do la! Apprecitate please.... Hahaha... here goes... ^^

* 27/3 *
` Woke up bright and early in the morning.. Oh, not bright. Its dark and early.. Haha! Baby sent us to Changi Budget terminal for our flight. It had been 9years ago since I last took a plane. Haha.. And the sense of excitment is indescribable. Hahaha. My heart was thumping as though its jumping out. Ha.. Kidding! :)

Arrival at Ho Chi Minh city, the airport staff at HCM is damn rude! I hate their working attitude. Nnb. If singapore were to have this kind of standards, I think we won't even clinche the no. 1 spot before.

And so, we waited for Uncle Lawrence's friend to fetch us from the airport and headed to the hotel. Though its not a very fantastic hotel with lavish furnishing, its big and very accessible! And cheap plus free unlimited internet surfing. Its a good deal after all. ^^
After settling down, we went for dimsum lunch at a restaurant.. The food is good and prices are reasonable.

After the fulfilling lunch, Uncle Lawrence brought us to a local brewery. The place was big and there's a buffet lunch going in. Serving loads of food! Haha.. Of coz we din't have any more. We're not that pigs. LOL.

After which, we're brought around by his friend while he went back to settle some work stuff. We went to the Presidential Place where the president used to live. It was huge with loads of rooms. But nothing much to see. Or nothing much caught my attention. Hahaha! ^^

And off to a war memorial site. There are better and more things over here I should say. Tanks, helicopters, weapons, bullets, bombs, jail, statues, etc etc.... I've learnt an important history lesson over at this place.. Hahaha....

After the interesting history lesson, we headed to Chinatown. There is shopping over here but none of the things caught my eye. The clothes were mostly local style and so many footwear which are crazily all over the place.. Hahaha..... But some interesting finds in the marketplace though....

After a long day's walking and exploring, we settled down for dinner.. The place is very nice furbished and the food was not bad too.. Except I saw some lil cute animals in cages waiting to be slaughtered. :( Its kind of heart wrenching to see those lil guys inside. Don't worry, I'm certain none of my dishes have any of them inside.

Off to a local karaoke pub.. I didn't sing at all that night. I dozed off coz I'm so damn tired! Hahaha...

` The sun was already up even though the clock in our bedroom only reads 6am. Washed up and headed over to Sinh Cafe for our Mekong Delta trip. Before that, we had breakfast at a little cafe down the street, the simple breakfast was good. I love their french loaf coz its not stuffed with fillings inside, its quite hollow that makes it taste even better! ^^

While waiting for the bus, we spotted this cute mobile bakery shop. There is a wide variety of bread and pastries to choose from.

After 2 1/2 hours ride, we finally arrived at Mekong River! The weather was scorching hot! We got on board the boat and started our jouney! First up was a tour around the river, to see how the people lived by the sea and activites being carried out.

After the tour by the river bank, we arrived at this place where they make rice paper. It can be used to wrap po piah or you can eat it just like that. It has a sweet taste and not so bad after all..

And after the rice paper place, we walked on to arrive at this restaurant place where they used coconut to make into loads of interesting stuff to sell. And we also had our lunch over here. We tried their speciality, the po piah together with the Elephant Ear Fish which can be only be found at the Mekong river. Haha... Ooh lala... it taste so goooodddd!!

Lunch is over and off to another place..

We're warmly welcomed by a table full of fruits! And some folklore singing and instrumental music..

And guess what's after this? Horse carriage! Hahaha.. I feel that the horses are so poor thing. :(
The uncle that's handling the carriage is so thoughtful, he prepared hats for us to wear.. And only us! :)

Followed up is a snake farm... Hahaha! Kidding... A place where they breed bees and honey..

Row row row your boat, gently down the stream.... Merrily merrily merrily..
The auntie rowing our sampan is damn power! She overtook so many boats and those are young man rowing ok? I think she chao chao also 65 years old lor.. And so the saying goes, "The old ginger is still the hottest!"

So many places still haven't ended our tour loh.. Haha.. Last stop was to a place where they make coconut candies and sell. ^^ All production was made solely by labour.

And back to the coach and to Sinh cafe by late afternoon.. It was a tiring yet fruitful day. And on the way back, we saw a sky filled with kites! So many people gathered at a empty land just to fly kites.. It was such a beautiful sight..

And Uncle Lawrence brought us to eat "Fishhead steamboat", I tell you.. The soup base is so solid that I didn't want to stop even though I feel damn full! Of all my years in sg, none of the soup base of any kind can make it to this standard. SERIOUS. Its that power! Hahahaha....

YEAH! And at least some shopping at last... hahahaa... The night market at Ben Thanh... :)

` Today is another day of exploration.. Breakfast is about the same coz I can't get enough of the bread. LOL.

Another long long journey of 3 1/2 hours to the temple. Its a temple which is a combination of taoist, buddhist, etc... I not too sure and wasn't really interested as well.. :P Apparently, there is a ceremony going on at that time also, so we stayed for awhile before heading for lunch..

During lunch, there is this cute cocker spaniel roaming around the restaurant waiting for people to give him food. SO CUTE! Hahahaha.. Of coz I couldn't resist the temptation of not snapping him and giving him some food. LOL. Lunch was pretty okay and food was not so bad either. I guess I'm famished. :X

And the highlight of the day, CUCHI TUNNEL.. :)
We had some really great experience at this place, climbing through the tunnel, live firing, looking at traps etc... Every penny is spent worthwhile. Heh heh. Look at photos for more illustrations!

Dinner time!
Another restaurant for different type of vietnam cuisine. YUMMYLICIOUS! I love their food coz its filled with vegetables. Healthy! And the girls at this restaurant are all very pretty and slim.. Sometimes, u'll wonder why god is unfair? Hahaha...

`Today is SHOPPING DAY! Finally! Before going on our shopping spree, must have breakfast to perk ourselves up and energy to walk.. Headed to have Wanton Mee down the street.. and after that, went to Ben Thanh Market for shopping... Actually the stores there are repeated, so overall there is nothing much.. But being first timers there, we spent quite sometime walking around.. Bargaining for the best prices etc.. And I bought alot of coffee powder back. Hahaha...

Uncle Lawerence came by in the afternoon and brought us to the mosque for a CURRY lunch.

And back to Ben Thanh for more shopping.. :D

* 31/3 *
` Going to depart from Vietnam, do last minute shopping before heading to the airport.. Had breakfast at the market and run some last minute errands.. Headed back to hotel and packed up and ready to depart!

This is their "subway" sandwich.. Its filled with pork floss, ham and san cen rou!

While at the airport, nothing much to do, besides camwhoring and sleeping. LOL. And before we knew it, we're back at SG! With baby waiting for our arrival..
AWWWWWW..... HOME SWEET HOME!!

Ps: Such a long entry.. Enjoy~ Its 2.33am and I'm freaking awake due to the laxatives.. :(
